Dr. John K. Waddell – President (2007 – 2009) Dr. Waddell received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina and his doctorate from Florida State University. Before becoming President at Denmark Technical College, Dr. Waddell served as president of Allen University, Columbia, SC; St. Paul’s College, Lawrenceville, VA; and Paul Quinn’s College, Dallas, TX.
Dr. Waddell redeveloped institutional administration, faculty governance, strategic planning, resource acquisition, accreditation, technology, finance and budget development and coordinated Title III and Title IV federal programs.
Dr. Waddell crafted workforce-oriented articulation agreements to aid in student job placement efforts and fill vacancies with highly qualified graduates.
The renovation of the Engineering Technology Center was spearheaded by Dr. Waddell, which helped to promote the college’s technical programs during this time.
Under Dr. Waddell’s leadership, the college received its third accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
